Music Video Round-Up – January 2011

Katie Armiger, “Best Song Ever”

Ha, I totally could have been in this video.  See all those people bopping out to “Best Song Ever”?  That’s how I get whenever I’m listening to it in the car.

Easton Corbin, “I Can’t Love You Back”

Really interesting concept.  It fleshes out the storyline a bit further, and shows that the departed lover has not dumped the guy, but rather was killed in a car accident (Don’t worry – It’s not graphic or bloody).  It makes the song seem even sadder!  My only thing is that I was expecting it to reach some sort of peak when it finished showing the lover driving in reverse back towards her man, and it really didn’t.  But still a good video nonetheless.

The Grascals and Dolly Parton, “I Am Strong”

Aw, they filmed it at St. Jude.  And yay for Dolly Parton!

Favorite new video?

Katie: Great song & Video, my new guilty pleasure! Though, I am not too crazy over the whole interacting with her while driving aspect…. Too dangerous! Though, that's me, I read too much into things, haha.Corbin: I agree with you, novel concept, but I can't help but feel it's been done before. Otherwise, the video does nothing for me, kinda reminds me of "What Hurts The Most," the girl's acting gets me everytime.Grascals: Nice concept and sweet, but the whole white lights around Dolly was a bit too much for me. I'd have liked to see them perform it as they did, with the kids, WITH Dolly too… ala Underwood's performance video of "I'll Stand By You" with the african children… Another one that gets me everytime.Overall, none of these videos does anything for me, but they are great to see.

I totally agree with both of you. The first song is catchy and the video def. captures what I would look like if I were listening to it in the car. Corbin's video and song are nice, but nothing special really. As for "I Am Strong" the white outs with Dolly totally kill it. It's cute with the kids at St. Jude's.Like Zach said, nothing special really, but they're alright.p.s. I just started up my own country music blog to highlight some songs I liked.
